General Description: Mill Crick Farm is in its sixth year of cultivating assorted produce and cut flowers. We are located in the Bitterroot Valley just north of Hamilton, Montana. There are 4 hoop houses which provide space to start bedding plants and grow produce in the early and late season as well as about 10 acres of row crops. We grow for direct sales through the Hamilton Farmers market and an on site farm stand. We wholesale produce and flowers through various channels in Missoula and the Bitterroot Valley as well. We use organic practices and are certified or transitioning certified organic on all of our acreage.We are also part of the Montana Sustainable growers union which is a peer certified group of farmers in western Montana. There are many opportunities for outdoor recreation very near by. We are looking for one intern is looking to gain experience in the day to day management of a small diversified farm. A potential intern should be considering a future as a farmer.

Meals: Interns have a small outdoor kitchen. Anything produced on the farm is available for meals. Some bulk foods are also provided.
Skills Desired: You will be involved in the everyday operation of the farm. This will include bed prep, planting, weeding, harvest, and preparation of produce for sale. One of your main responsibility's will be the operation of the on site farm stand. This will include caring for bedding plants in the early season and then keeping produce stocked during the rest of the season. This position will include some responsibilities and will hopefully provide the opportunity to get a good idea of what is involved in the management of a small diversified farm. Interns will work 5 days a week. Hours will vary but the longest weeks can be 50-60 hours. Early and late in the season it may be as little as 30-40.
Stipend: There is a stipend which starts at $800 a month as well as a place to stay and anything produced on the farm.
Housing: Housing is a 13 ft trailer remodeled into a bedroom with a small outdoor kitchen. The trailer has a small wood stove a dresser a desk and a queen sized bed
